The car was originally a 325i in base trim with an automatic transmission. The engine was replaced with a BMW M30b35 from a 535i of the same era and was fitted with a matching manual gearbox. Engine is chipped but otherwise stock. Steering rack swapped for a shorter E36 rack. The tub is solid, rust free and in good condition. Some panels are still original with a patina finish, front fenders were re-sprayed a few years ago. A little surface rust inside the driver door panels.
This car is perfectly balanced and as analog a driver’s car as you can get. The only driver aid is the power steering. It is quick enough to be fun, cheap to operate and you won’t have to re-mortgage your home if you ever get a little too ambitious.
Interior was stripped, back seats removed, front seats replaced with 2 Sparco Sprints bucket seats on sliders. Suspension was upgraded to lowered H&R Race springs with Bilstein shocks. A Massive Willwood big brake kit was fitted to the front. A brake bias adjustment valve was installed. Front rotors are Willwood Spec 37. Pads are PFC 11 on all four corners. Braided brake lines were installed. Rear calipers were replaced with rebuilt units in 2019. All hoses and belts were replaced during the swap. A rebuilt alternator was also fitted. The radiator was replaced with a new unit last fall. All bushings were replaced with urethane. Front control arm bushing are solid M3 pieces. Control arms were replaced last summer. New sway bar link at the front. Left front wheel bearing and hub replaced summer 2021 and right front bearing replaced in 2020. Schmiedmann headers and a custom 3in exhaust system was fitted. LSD was rebuilt professionally summer 2022 ($3,800). A custom roll bar by PowerSport Garage Calabogie. Turn One 6pt racing harness on both driver and passenger side. AC was removed but fan and heater are still functional.
The car comes with 8x 17in alloy wheels with 2 sets of Hancook Ventus RS-4 high performance tires, 1 set of 16in alloy wheels with street/storage tires, 4 OEM 15in alloy (no tires) and a custom utility trailer including a toolbox and poles to carry extra sets of wheels and tires. 1 set of RS-4 is almost new (two track days) the other set has about 20% life left in them.
Extra parts include all original parts, extra bumper, hood, front struts, extra engine (complete but needs a rebuild or for spare parts), extra transmission, and all accessories.
The car is currently registered in Quebec and street legal. That being said, I only drive it to and from the track. (Mt-Tremblant and Calabogie Motorsport Park.)
Current issue;
Loss of compression on cylinder 6. Valve seat or head gasket issue IMO but I didn’t perform a thorough investigation.
Car is currently in storage. Viewing by appointment only.
Will start and drive but I would not go for a test drive given the engine compression issue.
